2007/2008 - Under 10s Match Reports

Back to the Theatre of Dreams for our third game of the season.  Jon was captain this week and elected to kick off.

We started the game extremely well this week with the whole team involved in some great passing movements down the pitch. From one of these, Jamie, Joe and Jon combined to put Grace through on goal. She did really well to avoid the last defender but then put her shot over the bar. The next few minutes we were excellent though, with our midfield and strikers creating several chances and Jamie, Joe, Jon, James and Jordan (that's a lot of J's) all going close. And at the back, Matt, Seb and Lewis were all keeping the chances for Warboys down to a minimum with some very good defending.  For the last few minutes of the half, Warboys came back into the game and created some good chances that Lewis saved well. Matt, Seb, Jamie and Joe also did well to head clear some dangerous crosses.

The second half started and Warboys had the first good chance - their striker pulling his shot wide from in front of the goal. This seemed to spur us on and we started to create some chances again. Our first goal eventually came - Jordan poking the ball home at the far post for his first of the season. Our second was our best team goal so far this season - Jon, Grace and Jamie all combining to create some space for Jamie to rifle past the keeper. The Match of the Day cameras weren't here this week, otherwise I'm sure Alan Shearer would have loved it.

A great performance this week. Man of the match went to Matt for his part in keeping our first clean sheet of the season.
