2007/2008 - Under 10s Match Reports

A friendly fixture this week to help us be ready for next weeks Cup game. Matt our reliable defender could not make it and Manager, Richard was unavailable. Fortunately, the recently awarded Hunts Coach of the Year 2006 / 07 (yes Keith!) was able to step in.

We started the game strongly and attacked well with lots of good passing nearly resulting in goals with Joe, James, Jon and Grace all going close. Our first substitution brought Jordan on up front and it wasn't long before he was on the score sheet lobbing the ball over the keeper into the top right corner. At half-time it was still 1 - 0 and while we continued to dominate when going forward we started to forget to mark players. This continued in the second half as we were ball watching rather than looking around for players to mark. But Seb was in fine form to rescue us at the back. We always looked dangerous going forward with Jamie, Grace and Jon pushing forward with good runs and passing supported by James and Joe with Jordan our target man up front. And it was Jordan who slotted home for his 2nd goal and he had chances to score more.

At 2 - 0 we continued to substitute regularly and switched positions, even letting Seb have a break from defending. Our failure to look around to mark players put us under pressure and Lewis was now having to make interceptions and saves. Brampton got a goal back and then nearly got an equaliser - but we finished the game off with Grace slotting in from close range.

A good win - we looked great going forward and should have scored lots more goals, but we need to work on marking players and holding good position.

Man of the Match was awarded to Seb for his defensive performance, but all players put in strong individual performances and all enjoyed the white chocolate maltesers.
