2007/2008 - Under 10s Match Reports

Today was the chance to wipe out the memory of our sub-optimal performance last week...

Seb was captain today, won the toss and decided to play with the wind. We started off quite brightly, creating a number of chances that Jordan, Jamie and Grace couldn't quite convert. However, again we went to sleep for a minute, our midfield decided not to run back, Ramsey broke quickly and they ended up scoring with their first attack of the game. We continued to attack though and our reward was another poachers goal from our top scorer Jordan (is anyone going to catch up with him?).

The second half began in a similar way to the first. We spent a lot of the time attacking, and even Matt and Seb were able to venture forwards into their penalty area. James looked like he enjoyed playing in midfield where he could use his pace to support Jamie, Jordan, Joe and Grace, and Jon always looked a threat when he got the ball in space. And Lewis made a couple of good saves when required. Jon scored our second after some fine play by Grace and Joe, and it looked like we would get our first victory for a long time. We had a lot of chances but failed to put them away - not sure what has happened but we don't seem to want to kick the ball hard and low when we are shooting - something to practise (again!) before our next game I think.

Not putting our chances away was to prove costly, as Ramsey broke forward and scored, again probably with their first attack of the half. We then had a bit of a crazy few minutes, with Ramsey going close to winning the game on a couple of occasions.

Man of the match today was Jon for his tireless attacking of the Ramsey defence - well played.
