2007/2008 - Under 10s Match Reports

A match in the sunshine again today for our fairweather team

We kicked off against a very good Godmanchester side and immediately put them under presssure. Jon took the ball and ran straight at them, round the last defender and blasted it into the goal to put us a goal up. Godmanchester came back well, but Seb, Matt and Joe at the back held them at bay and Lewis produced a superb save to tip a shot away for a corner. We couldn't hold out forever though, and Godmanchester equalised with a shot from the corner of the area.

We kept our heads up though and our enthusiasm and Jamie, Grace, James and Joe started to get to grips with a tough tackling midfield. We started to control the game, Jordan coming close before Jon grabbed our second with a shot from the edge of the area. This was followed closely by a snapshot from Seb that flew into the corner of the goal to put us 3-1 up. We then fell asleep a little defending and allowed Godmanchester to walk through our midfield and defence to make it 3-3 at halftime.

The second half started the same way as the first, with us on the attack. Some fantastic moves saw us creating lots of chances but unfortunately we couldn't score, and at the other end Godmanchester also created a few chances. Just as it looked like it might be a draw, Seb crossed the ball over and Jordan scored with an unbelievable volley for possibly the goal of the season so far!

Well played today to everyone - our best performance of the season to date. Let's see if we can keep it up until the end of the season. Man of the match today went to Jon for his tireless and direct running - well done.
