2007/2008 - Under 10s Match Reports
Another sunny morning, and the millions of television viewers were wondering whether Graveley could keep up their recent run of fine form...
Most of the viewers switched off during the first half, as we couldn't get going at all. We gave the ball away too easily and it was no surprise that St Ives scored with a low hard shot from the right of the area. We had a couple of scrambled attempts but didn't really look like scoring.
The second half started and those fans that hadn't walked out were treated to a footballing feast. Our midfield of James, Jamie and Joe got to grips with the game and started to pass the ball to feet instead of hoofing it up. Jon started to get a bit of space to run at the defence, and Jordan held the ball up well for his runners. At the back, Seb held St Ives at bay, with Matt pushing on to help the midfield. And Lewis made a couple of fine saves, one in particular was excellent. We created a lot of chances and on another day we could have won the game.
Our goal came midway through the half - our newly worked corner coming out to Jamie who hit it first time for an unstoppable screamer into the corner.
And so in summary, poor first half, much better second half. Man of the match today was Seb for holding us together at the back while everyone else was charging up the pitch in search of a winner.
